Traveling Essentials for Women – Top 5 Things You Need When Traveling if You’re a Woman

If you’re the kind of woman that always frets about what to bring with them while traveling. Whether it’s business or leisure, these traveling essentials for women are my go to things to make sure I have with me when traveling. I could spend days thinking about what I may or may not need for just a weekend trip.

To save time now, I make sure I always have the essentials ready to go, and build around them. As long as i have these 5 things, everything else will fall into place.

In no particular order, these are my top 5 essentials:

1. Hard Shell Carry-On

Whether you’re traveling by plane or car, a hard-shell carry on is an essential. It’s nice to prevent damage of any sort to the contents inside. It’s small enough to use as a carry-on, but if packed right can also hold up to a weeks worth of clothes. Packing cubes are a girls’ best friend (See item 5). The hard shell carry on’s also fit nicely into even the smallest trunks.

2. Mini Travel Wallet

I love having a mini travel wallet. I use a wristlet or and ID carrier from Vera Bradley. I hate lugging around a purse when I’m out and about on my travels. One, I don’t want to sit it down and forget it somewhere, and two I usually have a drawstring or backpack, so it takes up less room. I always budget ahead and only take so much money per day, I don’t need a large wallet filled with countless cards and loose change.

Large wallets are clunky. They take up way too much space, and they allow for you to bring along all of your credit cards. You’re more likely to spend with money you don’t have if the cards are right at your fingertips. If you take a small wallet and only fill it with cash you have on hand, you’ll only spend that cash.

3. Portable Charger

Personally, I think my portable phone charger is one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. If I’m going on short trips by myself, I’ll typically take a small portable charger that’s meant for a one time charge. However, if I’m going on a longer trip with others, I choose one that can charge multiple phones simultaneously.

If it’s a business trip, you’ll probably be using your phone a lot for work. If it’s a leisure trip, you’ll probably be taking lots of photos. Both of these things will drain your phone rapidly. And if you’re on the go, you can’t always find a place to plug in your phone to charge.

Amazon has a lot of great, affordable choices.

4. Reusable Water Bottle

This is a must. I hate using plastic water bottles. They’re so bad for the environment, so I never even buy them. A reusable water bottle is roughly the same size (you can even buy collapsible ones for more room), they can easily be stored in your bag without leaking, and if you buy an insulated one, they’ll keep your water colder longer.

No matter what kind of trip you’re on you’re going to need to stay hydrated. You can even find cute designs on reusable water bottles so you can stay hydrated in style. I take my reusable water bottle everywhere.

5. Travel Storage Cube

I am in love with travel storage cubes. They’re easily manipulated to fit into small spaces and they can still fit and organize all your clothes and accessories. It keeps your stuff organized and neat. It also prevents it from getting tossed around in your suitcase if you drop it, or there’s turbulence on the plane.

In the event you drop your suitcase and it pops open, your clothes and belongings won’t spill everywhere, potentially causing environment.

Only the Essentials

When you’re traveling on a budget and/or limited space, you only want to take what you NEED. I always try to pack as light as possible. I don’t want to have to lug around a bunch of luggage and bags. Especially if I’m going to Universal Studios Orlando, I want extra room to bring back souvenirs.

I’ve become a master and packing only the essentials. Which I will be writing about in the near future.
